Nothing against Taylor Swift, but how could they choose her as Éponine over Lea Michele?

I just don’t get it. Lea is a trained musical actress who’s been on Broadway ever since she’s a child. She’s experienced in both acting on stage and in front of the camera and she’s even played the role of Éponine in the Hollywood Bowl production of Les Miz.

I really like Taylor Swift, I liker her style and her music, but she should stick to that and I have the feeling she’ll be overchallenged with the part. So what I get from this is that she’s only been cast because she’s famous and she has a huge fanbase.

The thing is that Lea Michele has also become an international star during the past two years and though she’s not as famous as Taylor Swift, people still know her and she’d make many people watch the movie and it wouldn’t have been at all a “risky choice” to cast her. The funny thing is, Lea has become so famous over the last years that you could even call it stunt casting if she was cast.

I just don’t get it. This movie could’ve become so brilliant and it would’ve been clever to cast Lea because she’d also bring many “younger people” into the cinemas as well as die-hard Broadway fans.

Not gonna lie, I would’ve even prefered Scarlett Johansson as Éponine. Éponine is my favourite character from the show and with Scarlett I’d at least know that they have a person who is able to act the part with passion.

I will never understand this. I’d love Taylor to prove me wrong, but even more I’d love Lea to play the role. Period.
